You can prevent a drowning in your pool by having the necessary layers of protection" for your pool, including by using the Water Watcher Tag which you can download, print, cut-out and use for when you use your pool, or when you have your next pool party or barbecue. By using the Water Watcher Tag, you designate an adult, who knows how to swim to be a “Water Watcher” while the pool is in-use. They are responsible for watching everyone in the pool while it is in-use, and responsible for locking the pool up once everyone is out of the pool and pool area and follow procedures in case of an emergency. Most drowning injuries and deaths happen in private backyard pools. Most of these preventable drowning's are among young children under 5-years of age. However older children and even older adults, both who know how to swim are equally at risk when a laps in adult supervision occurs. A drowning occurs silently and once submerged can sustain irreversible brain damage or death in only 4-6 minutes. Having an adult "Water Watcher" will help to prevent a preventable drowning.
