Car Seat Stages
The following are the four stages for buckling up while riding in a motor vehicle. Each stage includes best practices which are the safest recommendations. These are often above and beyond state laws (see state laws). Car seats (child restraint systems) are now designed with greater height and weight limits, so children can remain in the safest position longer (rear-facing for example). Always follow the height and weight recommendations according to the car seat manufacturer and vehicle instructions. The stages below are linked to car seat stage best practice recommendations.
